MYSURU: Despite the rain, lakhs of people, who were eagerly in wait through the morning, witnessed the world-renowned Mysuru Dasara Jumboo Savari procession on Vijayadashami day.
The 750 kg golden howdah (Ambari) was carried by Captain Abhimanyu, accompanied by elephants Hiranmaya and Lakshmi, amidst cheers from the crowd. Dhananjaya marched as the leading elephant in the Jamboo Savari procession, while Gopi stepped in as Nauphat as per the protocol.
Mysuru Dasara, a grand 10-day festival, culminated today with the spectacular Jamboo Savari procession. This event symbolises the victory of good over evil.
The procession, which started at 5:02 pm, 30 minutes later than schedule, featured over 50 tableaux and folk troupes. Colorful tableaux, including cultural teams, traditional music, and elaborate floats representing various districts, glided through the Mysuru Dasara procession, showcasing Karnataka’s rich culture and traditions.
The procession passed through KR Circle, Sayyaji Rao Road, Government Ayurveda College Circle, Bamboo Bazaar, and Highway Circle and terminated at Bannimantap grounds where a spectacular torchlight parade was held by the Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP).
