KOPPAL: A labourer was killed after he was buried under tons of rice stored in a silo after it suddenly collapsed at the NR Rice Mill in Gangavathi on Thursday. The deceased was identified as Amjad (25).
Amjad was standing under one of the silos when it suddenly toppled and he was buried under tons of rice. Excavators were brought in to clear and rice and extricate Amjad’s body. The Gangavathi Town police have registered a case and taken up further investigation.
In another incident, a farmer died after a wall of his house collapsed on him at Nandihal village in Kushtagi taluk. The deceased was identified as Sharanappa Bavikatti (38).
The house wall collapsed after the rain on Wednesday night. The Kushtagi tahsildar and police visited the spot and conducted an inspection. A case was registered at the Kushtagi police station.
