BENGALURU: Following Opposition leader Siddaramaiah’s controversial remark on the Lingayat community, Janata Dal (Secular) leader Kumaraswamy has issued strict instructions to party candidates and leaders not to speak about the community during campaigning for the Assembly election.

He warned party candidates and leaders not to interfere in the fighting between the BJP and Congress over the Lingayat controversy. None of the JD(S) candidates or leaders should make any comments on comments made by BJP and Congress leaders. Any talk about any particular community may turn against the party, Kumaraswamy warned.

Kumarasway instructed the leaders to instead speak about the achievements of himself and his father H D Deve Gowda, about the Pancha Ratna yatra and the party manifesto.
