Kumaraswamy campaigns for first time in Ramanagara for May 10 polls, holds roadshow

RAMANAGARA: For the first time after filing his nomination, Janata Dal (Secular) leader and former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Monday held a roadshow in Ramanagara and Channapatna on the last day of campaigning for the Assembly election. He urged people to vote for him and for his son Nikhil Kumaraswamy.

Party patriarch H D Deve Gowda, Nikhil Kumaraswamy and state president C M Ibrahim participated in the campaign. The roadshow covered several places and public meetings were also held.

Addressing a rally, Kumaraswamy said, “I have travelled alone across the state and people will ensure JD(S) victory as they treat me as a son of the household. I am confident that I have gained the trust of the people, so that’s why I came here on the last day of the campaign”.

“Although born in Hassan, this is the district that gave birth to my political career. There has been a lot of rumours being spread in this election. I became Chief Minister for 14 months last time. The opposition tried hard to dethrone me from the CM’s seat”, HDK added

Recalling his tenure as CM, Kumaraswamy said, “I worked for 18 hours a day, not considering my ill-health. Mothers of this constituency have told me that they will bless me this time”.

“Some people said that I will lose the Channapatna seat and that I should visit villages. But I said this is the place which gave birth to my political career and Channapatna and Ramanagara is like my two eyes. The people have requested to make these two constituencies twin cities”, he said.

“This time, no one can stop me from becoming Chief Minister. Earlier, I had promised that I will waive the loans of Stree Shakti groups, but they ridiculed it. I did not say that I will waive the loans of Stree Shakti groups, but I promised that I will do that as soon as an completely JD(S) government is formed”, Kumaraswamy said.

“I believe that your will protect your son. If you make up your mind, I can win by a margin of 35,000 to 40,000 vots”, Kumaraswamy told the voters. “Former Prime Minister Deve Gowda gave reservation for Muslims, but BJP has taken it back. I will try to return it again. Muslims should not be get influenced by misleading information”, he requested.

Kumaraswamy said he had seen the suffering of people of North Karnataka  and said the two national parties are playing with people’s lives. He also promised to turn Channapatna into a model constituency.
