MANGALURU: The state government on Thursday issued an order to transfer the Mangaluru cooker blast case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
Meanwhile, the police investigation so far has revealed that the blasts was planned in three temples and two public places in the city.
The state government has written a letter to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs for an NIA investigation into the case, said State Home Minister Araga Jnanendra in a statement. State police source revealed that the NIA and another central agency are working on cracking the case.
The police source revealed that the bomb blast was intended for some of the city’s famous temples like Kadri Shri Manjunatha Temple during the Lakshadeepotsava celebration, Kudroli Sri Gokarnanatha Kshetra, and Mangaladevi Temple. The blast was also targeted in public places like Mangaluru Railway Station and KSRTC bus stand, RSS head office Sangh Niketana during the ‘Makkala Habba’ programme.
The police have decoded Shariq’s WhatsApp DP of Lord Shiva, and they suspect that the blast was intended for Shiva temples in the city and Shariq’s mobile phone tower was traced near RSS headquarters.
