KSRTC staffer detained at protest site in Belagavi with liquor, petrol bottles

BELAGAVI: Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Alok Kumar on Monday visited the site where protests have been allowed near Bastawada village close to the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha.

During the metal detector screening of the protesters, the police found a bottle of liquor, two bottles of petrol and tobacco products in a bag belonging to KSRTC employee Shivanna, who hails from Devara Hipparagi in Vijayapura taluk. The police have detained the employee and taken his details.

Liquor and petrol bottles, and tobacco products were found in the bag.

Alok Kumar told media persons that Senior SP Martin will conduct an inquiry into the detection of the liquor and petrol bottles and initiate appropriate action. The employee claimed that the petrol was meant for a generator, he added.

The ADGP also went around the protest site, which included farmers, and inquired with them about the arrangements made for them.
