BENGALURU: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has for the first time introduced a Rs 50 lakh accidental insurance cover for its employees.
So far, the families of employees or dependents were not eligible for any substantial relief in the case of death or disability of the employee. Hence, as a welfare measure, KSRTC has tied up with SBI for the new accidental cover scheme. About 55 per cent of KSRTC employees have their salary accounts with SBI.
The transport utility’s employees who have their salary accounts with SBI will be eligible for premium-free individual accidental insurance cover. In case of death, the family/dependents will get Rs 50 lakh, in case of permanent disability, they will get Rs 20 lakh and in case of partial disability, Rs 10 lakh will be given. The insurance cover is for both on and off-duty accidents.
Under the scheme, a maximum of Rs 5 lakh will be given to import medicines worth a maximum of Rs 10 lakh in case of plastic surgery for accident victims, an additional Rs 2 lakh in case the victim slips into coma, Rs 10 lakh for air ambulance, and in the case of death of an employee, a maximum of Rs 5 lakh for undergraduate studies for the children, and a maximum of Rs 5 lakh for the marrige expenses of girl children.
