BENGALURU: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has deployed 2,275 additional buses for three days from April 6 to 8 for the benefit of people travelling to their hometowns for Ugadi and Ramzan. It has made elaborate arrangements to operating extra buses in addition to the existing schedules to provide transport facility to the traveling public.
The transport utility expects the number of passengers to increase due to three consecutive holidays for Ugadi and Ramzan and hence, has introduced additional buses from Bengaluru.
The four corporations have decided to operate a total of 2,275 special buses which include 1,750 KSRTC buses, 145 NWKRTC buses, 200 KKRTC buses and 180 special BMTC buses. The special bus services have been arranged from Kempegowda bus station, Satellite bus station and Shantinagar towards Dharmasthala, Kukke Subrahmanya, Sringeri, Horanadu, Shivamogga, Madikeri, Davanagere, Gokarna, Kollur and Hubballi.
Also, the KSRTC in a release said there will be special bus services to cities in neighbouring states including Hyderabad, Chennai, Panaji, Shirdi and Ernakulam.
April 7 is Sunday and Ugadi festival falls on Tuesday, April 9 while Ramzan will be observed on April 11. April 13 is a second Saturday and April 14 a Sunday. A total of five holidays will come up from April 7 to 14 and many parents may have already prepared to go out with their children for the summer vacation.
