KSRTC bus driver, passengers sustain injuries in serial accident on Charmadi Ghat

Traffic was affected for some time as a result of the serial accident.

CHIKKAMAGALUR: In a serial accident, a KSRTC bus driver sustained serious injuries while the passengers suffered minor injuries after a lorry carrying LPG cylinders collided with it near Banakal on Charmadi Ghat on Sunday. Another lorry coming from behind crashed into the LPG lorry.

The injured were shifted to a hospital in Ujire. As a result of the serial accident, traffic was affected for a few hours. The ghat connects Chikkamagalur and Dakshina Kannada. The Banakal and Belthangady police visited the spot.

In another accident, four people travelling in a car had a miraculous escape after it plunged into a tributary of the Tunga river near Gulaganji village in Sringeri taluk on National Highway-169 on Saturday night. The car fell into the water after crashing into the guard rails at a curve.

The occupants of the car were on their way from Karkala to Sringeri when the driver lost control and the vehicle plunged into the river. The Sringeri police visited the spot and registered a case.
