KKRTC conductor dies after bus crashes into tipper on highway

The bus crashed into a tipper which was taking a U-turn.

BALLARI: A Kalyana Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (KKRTC) bus conductor died on the spot after it rammed into a tipper belonging to a mine near Haruvanahalli on National Highway-50 in Hosapete taluk of Vijayanagar district on Wednesday.

It is said that the tipper truck was taking a U-turn when the driver braked suddenly. The KKRTC bus coming from behind, rammed into the tipper, resulting in the death of conductor Umesh (42). The bus driver too sustained serious injuries, but the passengers were unhurt.

The bus, belonging to the Kukanoor depot, was on its way from Hosapete to Bengaluru when the accident occurred. The Mariyammanahalli police and KKRTC officials visited the spot and a case has been rgistered.

ASI dies while on duty

An assistant police sub-inspector attached to the Hosapete Rural police station, who was in Jodhpur on duty, died after suffering a cardiac arrest. The deceased is Halappa (56).

The ASI had left for Jodhpur in Rajasthan on August 17 on official duty along with a head constable and a police constable. The ASI’s last rites will be performed at his native Hirehadagali village Hoovinahadagali taluk on Thursday.
