KKRTC bus falls into roadside ditch in freak accident, passengers safe

BIDAR, BAGALKOT: A KKRTC bus fell into a roadside ditch while trying to avoid collision with a speeding oncoming bus near Savali village in Kamalanagar taluk on Thursday. The bus crew and about 15 passengers escaped with minor injuries.

The KKRTC bus was on its way from Bhalki to Kamalanagar. Due to road repair works, one carriageway was closed and a Telangana road transport corporation bus came speeding from the opposite direction, leading to the accident.

Part of the road has been washed away due to floods.

In another incident, a lorry fell into the flooded backwaters of the Krishna river near Kankanawadi village in Jamakhandi taluk of Bagalkot district on Thursday.

Due to the flooding, part of the Jamakhandi-Kankanawadi road had been washed away and the lorrry fell into the water while trying to traverse the road, police said.
