BALLARI: An executive engineer of the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB), who is posted in Ballari, finds himself in the midst of a controversy for reportedly clearing files from his home in Davanagere nearly 200 km away.
The official, Sridhar, is alleged to have been working from home and getting office files sent to him by hired cars. As per norms, files are not to be taken to the houses of officials.
The isue came to light when two individuals, Srinivas Reddy and Santhosh, residents of Allipura, stopped a taxi headed for Davanagere on the basis of suspicion and dialled 112. More than 90 files were found in the boot of the taxi, which Sridhar had been getting transported through senior assistant Nazeer. Both the taxi and the files were then taken to the Ballari Rural police station.
The district deputy commissioner and police superintendent were informed about the development. However, Assistant Engineer Govinda Nayak later turned up at the Ballari Rural police station to claim the files. However, he was told that Sridhar would himself have to come to the police station and clarify on the files, and sent back.
