BENGALURU: An engineering graduate from Kerala was caught consuming drugs on the roadside at Om Sai Layout area of Kudurugere. Locals caught him handed him over to police.
The accused was identified as Ruben, who consumed the drug in a public place. The issue of drug abuse is on the rise in the outskirts of Bengaluru.
Ruben had previously been admitted to a rehab centre, but had relapsed after returning home a few months ago. Locals alleged that Ruben had a connection with an African drug peddler from whom he purchased drugs. Ruben bought 1 gram hydro ganja for Rs 1,200 at the time he was caught by locals.
Residents of the area confronted Ruben, and the incident was reported to the police. The locals handed him over to the Madanayakanahalli police.
