Karwar-Yeshwantpur passenger train stuck after landslide, passengers sent by buses

The landslide hampered movement of trains between Hassan and Bengaluru.

HASSAN: A landslide occurred on the railway tracks in Sakleshpur taluk, forcing the Karwar-Yeshwantpur Passenger train to halt near the Ballupet railway station on Friday night.

Work on clearing the tracks went on through the night.

The railway authorities arranged six buses for the 295 passengers from Sakleshpur to Yeshwantpur. They were also refunded the ticket fare and safely sent to their destination. The train then returned to the Hassan junction.

Arrangements were made for the passengers to be sent by buses.

Meanwhile, the raiway authorities worked through the night in the rain to clear the debris from the railway tracks using excavators. Sub-divisional commissioner Shruthi was overseeing the operations.
