BENGALURU: The state’s biggest education fair, ‘Vidhyapeeta’, hosted by Public TV, got off to a start at Gayatri Vihar, Palace Grounds, on Saturday.

Public TV Chairman H R Ranganath inaugurated the expo along with GS & SG Group MD Prakash Nath Swamji, Garden City University vice-chancellor Joseph, Ramaiah University vice-chancellor Kuldeep Raina, Cambridge University chairman D K Mohan and East Point Group of Institutons CEO Rajiv Gowda.

Speaking on the occasion, H R Ranganath said such opportunities were not available earlier and called upon parents and students to make best use of the education expo to make the right choices. Only yesterday, the state voted in one phase of the Lok Sabha election. Just as voters are encouraged to exercise their franchise, it is even more important that children make informed academic choices”, he noted.

“After PUC and degree, students and parents have to seriously consider the courses to be pursued and the institutions where they will do so. I am confident that they will make the right choices after visiting the ‘Vidhyapeeta’ expo”, he added.

“This time, 110 educational institutions are participating in the expo which will provide a platform to know about them and the courses they are offering. During our academic days, there were no such facilities and after passing SSLC or PUC, we had to apply in 10 different colleges. We would not even know in which college we would get a seat and we had to run from one college to another for three days to get the application forms and to submit them. If at all some document like a caste certificate was missing, it would take another two days of running around. It would take at least four days to get something done at the tahsildar’s office”, he recalled.

Ranganath noted that much has changed since those days. “This education expo is a good opportunity and we should make full use of it. There are good institutions and parents can help their children make the right choices”, he added.

Over 110 top educational institutions from different parts of the state are participating in the mega two-day education expo, ‘Vidhyapeeta’. Students and parents can avail comprehensive information about graduation and post-graduation courses, KCET, NEET and COMEDK, professional and career-oriented courses, all under one roof.

Student will also get an opportunity to meet eminent speakers and professionals, discuss about admission process, scholarships in educational Institutions, and can also discuss about their future and further higher studies. Institutes related to animation, media and gaming, architecture, coaching, commerce and banking, engineering, medical, fashion, hotel management law and other streams of learning will participate in ‘Vidhyapeeta’.
