BENGALURU: In a significant decision, the Karnataka Education Department has said that it will conduct special exams exclusively for students in Classes 5 and 8 in order to improve the educational quality.
The evaluation of the exam will be held at cluster level and will not be a public exam. The special exam will be conducted to assess (evaluate) students’ learning capacities and knowledge. No student will be failed, but the exercise is intended to help students improve their learning.
What is the special exam?
- The special exam will be conducted for studens of Classes 5 and 8.
- The exam will be held at cluster level, but will not be a public exam at the state level.
- Exams will be conducted by forming clusters of schools.
- It will be held under the guidance of cluster heads.
- Framing of question paper, preparation and conduct of the special exam will be held at cluster level.
- Answer sheets will be given to other clusters for evaluation.
- No student will be failed, but it will help focus more on students with low marks and to take suitable measures to improve teaching methods.
- The test will help introduce or adopt new teaching methods.
