VIJAYAPURA, BALLARI, YADGIR: With the Indian armed forces maintaining a status of high alert after the cessation of hostilities along the border, several soldiers from Karnataka, who had come home on leave, are being called back for duties.
Ramesh Ahirsangh, a CRPF jawan who was posted in Kashmir, was visiting his family at Lachyana village in Indi taluk of Vijayapura district. After he got a call to report back to duty, he offered prayers at the Siddalinga Maharaj Gadduge in the village and started preparations to head back.
The villagers applied tilak on his forehead and sent him off. Ramesh. The Indi police also escorted him for some distance.
Border Security Force (BSF) jawan Prakash Koppoji, who hails from Hagaribommanahalli in Vijayanagar district, also got a call to report back to active duty. Prakash was on a month’s leave, but is now headed back to his place of posting. Prakash joined the BSF in 2008 and was given a warm sendoff by family members and members of several organisations.
Basavaraj Koralla, who had come to Yadgir on emergency lave for his brother’s last rites, was also among those who were recalled for duties. Basavaraj has been with the Indian Army for 23 years and hails from Allur village in Kalaburagi district. He was posted in Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir.
As he set to return to duty, his daughter applied tilak while the wife performed aarti. Locals also conducted prayers at the Hanuman temple and distributed sweets.
