Karnataka Lokayukta conducts multiple raids across state against officials

BENGALURU: The Lokayukta police, the state’s anti-corruption agency, is conducting raids at several places in different districts across the the state on Friday. The raids are being conducted against 12 state officials.

The Lokayukta is raiding the residences of six officials in Bengaluru city, two officials in Bengaluru Rural district and two officials in Shimoga district and one officer each in Yadagiri and Tumkur. Fifty-four locations belonging to officers were raided and records were checked by the Lokayukta police.

The officials who are being raided include Additional Director of Industries and Commerce Department C T Muddu Kumar, Project Director Balawanth, Senior Veterinary Officer R Siddappa, Municipal Commissioner of Hebbagodi CMC K Narasimha Murthy, Joint Commissioner of Commercial Tax Ramesh Kumar and several other officials.

Last week, the Karnataka Lokayukta conducted statewide raids on government officials in nine districts across the state including Mandya, Kolar, Belagavi, Mysuru and Hassan in connection with 11 cases registered with the agency. Over 100 Lokayukta sleuths carried out simultaneous raids at 56 locations in connection with the 11 disproportionate asset cases.

In March, similar raids involving over 100 officials were conducted across Bengaluru, Bidar, Ramanagara and Uttara Kannada districts, among others. Another raid at 40 locations was conducted in February this year. (ANI)
