BENGALURU: In a setback for two-wheeler taxi operators, the High Court of Karnataka on Wednesday ordered that bike taxis shall not operate till the time proper rules are framed. The court rejected a petition seeking directions to the state government not to impose a ban on two-wheeler taxis.
A bench of Justice B M Shyam Prasad said bike taxis like Ola, Uber and Rapido should cease operations within six weeks as the state government has not drafted requisite rules. The court said two-wheeler taxis cannot be allowed to operate in the absence of rules.
The court also directed the state government to take steps to come up with necessary rules within the next three months.
