BENGALURU: In a major development, the Karnataka High Court has disqualified Prajwal Revanna as a member of the Lok Sabha for allegedly providing false information in his election affidavit. He is expected to approach the Supreme Court in the coming days.
A bench of Justice K Natarajan held that Prajwal Revanna had provided false information and ordered notices to him, his brother and MLC Suraj Revanna and also to JD(S) MLA A Manju who is another petitioner in the case. Manju was with the BJP when he had challenged the election of Prajwal from the Hassan Lok Sabha seat.
The court gave the ruling on a petition filed by advocate Devaraje Gowda wherein he had alleged that Prajwal had not disclosed assets worth Rs 25 crore, shareholdings in some companies, among others in the 2019 election.
With this, Prajwal, who was Hassan MP, will be barred from contesting any election for the next six years. Prajwal Revanna is the son of former minister H D Revanna, the older son of former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda.
