Karnataka govt shortlists 6 locations for second airport near Bengaluru

BENGALURU: The process of identifying suitable land for the construction of a second airport around Bengaluru is under way. The government shortlisted six locations, but a final decision is yet to be taken.

The shortlisted locations are:

Land parcel of 5,000 acres identified in Ramnagara district, Magadi taluk, located 17 km from Nelamangala on the Nelamangala-Mangaluru Road (NH-75) covering eight villages.

Another identified site in Magadi taluk, Ramanagara district, is about 5,000 acres of land, located 30 km from Nelamangala, with 10 villages surrounding the site.

The third site is in Nelamangala, Bangalore Rural district. It has 6,000 acres of land, located 5 km from Nelamangala, and covers 13 villages.

Another site shortlisted is in Doddaballapur, Bangalore Rural district. It includes 4,000 acres of land near the Satellite Town Ring Road. It is located 5 km from Doddaballapur and covers four villages.

Another identified location is in Dobbspet, Bangalore Rural district. It includes 5,500 acres of land near the Satellite Town Ring Road. The site is located 11 km away from Dobbspet with 15 villages in its surroundings.

The last site is in Harohalli, Ramanagara district, with 5,000 acres of land, near the Bengaluru-Kanakapura Road. It is located 17 km from Mysuru Road and 35 km from NICE Road, with 12 villages surrounding the site.

The Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) has shortlisted these locations, but the government has not yet taken a final decision.
