The Namma Metro will operate up to Bommasandra on the yellow line.

BENGALURU: The Karnataka government does not seem to be keen on the plan for an intercity metro connecting Hosur in Tamil Nadu and Bommasandra in the city. The Chennai Metro Rail Ltd had even commissioned a feasibility study for the 20-km line of which 12 km would be in Karnataka and 8 km in Tamil Nadu.

Senior ministers in the Siddaramaiah cabinet have suggested that not much importance should be given to the project as it would affect industries in Bengaluru. Hosur is already home to many industries and the Tamil Nadu government had proposed an airport there.

The Karnataka government is now planning a second airport around Bengaluru and has identified five locations for the purpose. These include Bidadi, Kunigal, Tumakuru and Jigani. There is already 4,000 acres of land available in Jigani and the Industries Department has been directed to submit a report on the second airport.
