VIJAYAPURA: The headmaster of a government girls’ high school in Kannur village in the taluk has been suspended for disrespecting the government by throwing government’s free textbooks on the road.
The incident came to light after Public TV telecast a detailed report on it. Within 12 hours of the report, the Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI), T S Kolar, ordered the suspension of the headmaster.
The suspension order cited negligence and dereliction of duty as the reasons for the headmaster’s suspension. The order also mentioned that the suspension was based on the Public TV report. The order is considered a swift response to the incident.
Over 100 students study here in government girls’ high school in Kannur village, Vijayapura taluk. The state government had provides free textbooks to the poor students of this school. However, some books were in excess.
The school’s headmaster, Vijayakumar, should have safely stored these leftover books or returned them to the education department. This would have helped other poor students who didn’t receive books to continue their education. Instead, the books were thrown on the ground, beside the school’s toilet.
