BELAGAVI: Kannadiga workers in Goa have appealed to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah seeking his intervention after they were targeted by Goans and assaulted.
A truck driver, identified as Anil Rathod of Kalakeri village in Vijayapura district, was brutally assaulted after his vehicle was blocked near Pernem in Goa. The attackers came in a Maruti Omni minivan and a SUV and also abused him in foul language.
Anil Rathod was transporting stones for building construction from Maharashtra to Goa when he was attacked. The truckers, who resides in Goa, has recorded the attack on his mobile phone.
The truck driver has since lodged a complaint with the Pernem police, but no action has been taken so far. The Mapusa truck owners association leaders Sameer Shettar and Suresh Pattigeri have condemned that attact on the truck driver.
It is said that attacks against Kannadigas residing in Goa have been going on for the last six months. They have appealed to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to take up the issue with his Goa counterpart and put and end to the constant harassment.
