BAGALKOT: Following a notice from the district administration to leave the district and return to his base, Kaneri Adrishya Kadasiddeshwara Swami returnted to the Shri Kshetra Siddhagiri Mahasansthan at Kaneri in Maharashtra early on Saturday.
A controversy had erupted over the seer’s alleged derogatory speech about Lingayat saints in Maharashtra. In view of the law and order situation, the district deputy commissioner issued a notice ordering the seer to leave the district, which was served by Bilagi tahasildar Vinod.
The swamiji complied with the order and returned to his native Kaneri in Maharashtra. The swamiji had been staying at the Mallikarjuna Math, a branch, at Chikkalagundi village, but was asked to vacate the premises and leave the district.
