CHIKKAMAGALUR: A woman allegedly assaulted the driver of a KSRTC bus operating between Kadur and Chikkamagalur for arriving late at the Chikkamaglaur bus stand. The incident occurred three days ago and a video of the altercation has now gone viral on social media.
The driver, Deepu, was allegedly beaten by the woman, who is the wife of a policeman and was traveling to Aldur village. She, along with two other women, verbally abused the driver, using foul language and threatened to take him to the Deputy Commissioner.
The altercation began when the women questioned why the bus was moving so slowly. The driver explained that the bus was in poor condition and he was driving cautiously to ensure the safety of the passengers. However, this explanation did not satisfy the women, who continued to berate and physically assault him.
The video footage shows the women abusing and hitting the driver, while also making threatening remarks. “If the bus is not in good condition, it should be parked at the depot. If there is an accident, who will be responsible for our families”, they can be heard questioning the driver. “If the bus is not in good condition, it should be sent to the junk yard”, the woman can be heard saying.
