BENGALURU: The historical three-day Kadalekai Parishe kicked off on the last Monday of the Karthika month near the famous Bull Temple in Basavanagudi. The Parishe will conclude on December 13.
The glory of Suggi (harvest season) is explored near the Dodda Ganesha temple in Basavanagudi on the one hand and the fair brings rural elegance in the midst of a glittering city on the other hand.
The Basavanagudi Kadalekai Parishe has its own history and was launched by offering groundnuts to Basavanna in the Dodda Ganesha Temple. Bengaluru South constituency MP Tejasvi Surya, local MLA Ravi Subrahmanya and Uday Garudachar officially launched the festival.

Basavanagudi Kadale Parishe has been held as a festival and groundnuts are brought from farms and sold here. But since 2008, a new tradition has been started, especially, since more and more people are participating in the fair year by year. This time too, more than seven lakh people are expected to attend and over 500 police personnel have been deployed, more than 50 CC cameras installed for the safety of women. A Theppotsava was held at Kempambudhi lake on Monday evening.
Speaking about the parishe, MP Tejasvi Surya said that it has been flourishing since centuries. “It is because of these kinds of rituals that the culture of our land is alive today. This year also, lakhs of people are participating. The Prime Minister has been proactive in giving an economic boost to local traders. Similarly, Kadalekai Parishe will generate a lot of revenue for traders”. He requested that people visit in large numbers.
