BENGALURU: The Namma Metro line between K R Puram and Whitefield was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi only 10 days ago. Now, work on another Metro line is almost nearing completion. The K R Puram-Whitefield Metro line is part of the extended purple line built under Phase-II.
The much awaited Purple Line Phase IA connectivity between K R Puram and Baiyappanahalli, a length of 2.2 km, is almost ready. The project got delayed due to difficulties in installing a 65-metre web girder viaduct across the Salem railway line. The contractor company ITD has now speeded up its other works.
Work on erecting a 100-metre-high extended wall, laying of tracks, installing the signalling system and other civil works are pending. All these pending works will be completed by June or mid-July and plans are afoot to have trial runs by the end of July if all goes well, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) officials said.
