KOLAR: A jeweller has been taken into custody by the police for allegedly making derogatory remarks against the Hindu and Muslim communities at Vemagal in the district.

The accused, identified as Ramesh, a Marwadi hailing from Rajasthan, runs a jewellery shop in the town. An audio clip of his remarks has gone viral on social media, prompting a complaint from the Muslim community.

The Vemagal police have taken Ramesh into custody and are questioning him. The incident has sparked tension in the area and the authorities are working to maintain peace and order.
