BENGALURU: The Janata Dal (Secular) on Saturday released a separate manifesto with Bengaluru in focus. The document was released by JD(S) partiarch H D Deve Gowda at his residence in Padmanabhanagar here.
The manifesto for Bengaluru focuses on social security and health, reforms in civic administration, education, improving public transport, greening and forestry, protection of tanks and lakes, rejuvenation of canals and modernisation of the Koramangala-Challaghatta Valley lift irrigation project.
Speaking on the occasion, Deve Gowda said Bengaluru has a population of 1.6 crore and the manifesto has been drawn up to find solutions to all the problems. “A lot has changed since the time I was chief minister. The Congress came in the way of conducting a proper study on the water situation. The manifesto lays stress on housing for the poor, student pus pass, old age pension, Swachch Bengaluru and development projects”.
Former Rajya Sabha member Kupendra Reddy said the manifesto promises development of roads using latest technology, upgradation of government schools to compete with private schools, importance for English education, curbing air pollution, filling tanks and lakes among other issues.
