HASSAN: The stalemate over the Janata Dal (Secular) candidate for the Hassan Assembly constituency is drawing more attention than other districts in the state politics. If Bhavani Revanna, who has declared herself as a prospective, and is busy meeting voters, does actually get the ticket, there could be a possibility of party aspirant Swaroop, who has been backed by former CM H D Kumaraswamy, and his supporters, moving out from the party.

In view of the prevailing confusion, JD(S) leaders are requesting the party bosses to resolve the issue at the earliest possible as it could affect the party’s prospects as the election draws near. Party leaders and activists are pressing for a solution to end any confusion.

Some JD(S) MLAs are learnt to have expressed anguish over the uncertainty about the Hassan candidate. The party’s MLAs, especially those from Hassan district are worried that people are discussing more about Hassan’s ticket confusion and they fear that if the stalemate continues, it may affect the party. Kumaswamy is campaigning hard by conducting the ‘Pancharatna Yatra’ across the state day and night, but all the efforts may come to naught if the Hassan ticket issue remains unresolved for longer, they feel.

The party’s leader admit that people are questioning about the dispute in family politics and whether the JD(S) can actually resolve people’s problems. There is also a whispering campaign that everything is not right in the Deve Gowda family with H D Revanna and H D Kumaraswamy trying to establish their family’s hold in politics.

Kumaraswamy has left it to party patriarch and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda to resolve the issue, but how it is done remains to be seen.
