JD(S) changes candidates in 12 constituencies as it announces third list of 59 nominees

BENGALURU: A day before nominations are to close for the Karnataka Assembly elections, the Janata Dal (Secular) has released its third list of candidates. The party has decided to support Congress and other party candidates in seven constituencies by not fielding its own candidates, including Darshan Dhuvanarayan in Nanjangud, son of late R Dhruvanarayan.

Party state president CM Ibrahim released the list at the party office in Bengaluru on Wednesday.

JD(S) changed its candidates in 12 constituencies, where it has already announced candidates.

In the third list, candidates have been announced for 59 constituencies and nominees have been changed in 12 constituencies which were already announced. The JD(S) had extended external support to other party candidates in seven Assembly constituencies.

The JD(S) has extended support for CPI(M) candidates from Gulbarga-Rural, Bagepalli and K R Puram, Republican Party of India (RPI) candidates from Vijayanagar and Mahadevpura, and the Congress candidate in Nanjangud.
