BENGALURU: The Jayanagar Citizens’ Forum held a meeting at JCCI Club, led by MLA C K Ramamurthy, to discuss the non-release of funds for the constituency. Several leaders, organizations’ presidents, members and actor Tara Anuradha participated in the meeting.
The meeting was held with the slogan ‘Our tax, Our Right’. Actress Tara Anuradha emphasized that taxpayers’ money should be utilized for local development and ensuring basic amenities. She stressed the need for transparency and accountability in utilising tax funds.
Tara said, “We are giving our hard-earned money to the government. We count our money and pay taxes. We should also benefit from the development work taken up with our tax money. Infrastructure is funded by our tax money. We choose our elected representatives and Ramamurthy is the MLA of our constituency. He is doing good work and will continue to do so, but Deputy CM D K Shivakumar Anna says that water bills have not been increased. Jayanagar Constituency has people of all religions. Development should be carried out and we need to know where our tax money is going. We should get justice from”, she stressed.
MLA Ramamurthy assured continued efforts for the area’s growth. After the meeting, hesaid that 72 associations joined to demand funds for the area and assured them that he would fight for their rights and ensure equal allocation.
Ramamurthy demanded Rs 10 crore for Jayanagar’s development, emphasizing the need for good roads and infrastructure. “There should be development, but how is it possible to release funds for other constituencies except Jayanagar. Otherwise, how will Brand Bangalore shine? There are bad roads in the constituency. D K Shivakumar had not come on my invitation. So who we go to? He is minister for Bengaluru Urban Development, but no one knows what is happening in Jayanagar constituency”.
He said he will personally meet Deputy CM D K Shivakumar, who is currently busy with Maharashtra election campaigns, and submit a memorandum.
