A writ petition has been filed in the high court.

BALLARI: A writ petition has been filed before the Dharwad bench of the Karnataka High Court alleging that actor Kireeti Reddy, who is the son of former minister and Gangavathi MLA G Janardhana Reddy, and his associates have grabbed 9 acres of land worth Rs 100 crore by creating fake documents.

The petitioner M Govardhan claims that Kiriti Reddy and others have registered the property in his name by forging documents. The High Court has issued a notice to the state government and directed the police to provide security to Govardhan, who fears for his life due to Kiriti Reddy’s influence. The court has also sought a report from the police and other authorities on the allegations.

Govardhan alleges that the accused have manipulated documents and cheated him of his property. An FIR has been registered at the Cowl Bazaar police station in Ballari, but no action has been taken so far. The High Court has directed the Home Department Secretary, CID, and other authorities to respond to the petition and has asked the police to provide security to Govardhan. The petition (WP 109367/2025) has been listed before Justice M Nagaprasanna and the next hearing has been scheduled on December 15.

According to Kushal, son of Govardhan, “The 9-acre land next to the TB Sanatorium is registered in the name of my father. We bought the land in 1994 and had planned to sell it in 2004-05 and the buyer had paid an amount of Rs 25-30 lakh after signing an agreement. They fudged the agreement to say that full payment was made and even got a General Power of Attorney (GPA) done and have misrepresented the documents before a court and got and ex-parte order”.

“After we came to know that the property had changed hands, we approached a court and got an injunction order. An investigation is going on for the last seven months. We have now approached the high court seeking transfer of the case to the CID or SIT. The mutation records are still in my father’s name, but Kiriti Reddy’s aides are threatening us”, he told Public TV.

Govardhan said, “I bought the land in 1994-95 and got all documentation done. Later on, my mother and brother died and my health started failing. I signed an agreement for sale of the land and received Rs 32 lakh from Srinivas (Seena) and Manjunath who were close to me. They still had to pay me close to Rs 45 lakh, but they fudged the documents and sold it to Srinivas Reddy, chairman of Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC). He, in turn, further forged documents and sold it to Kiriti Reddy. The pahani and all other documents are still in my name. The value of the land is now about Rs 100 crore. Janardhana Reddy himself is involved in all this”.
