BENGALURU: Some inmates at Parappana Agrahara central jail are allegedly threatening a recently released convict for money by making calls from mobile phones from within the jail. Some history-sheeters are reportedly using mobile phones to intimidate and demand money from individuals.
Former prisoner Arul was released after serving seven years for a murder case. He knew some prisoners while inside the jail. He has now lodged a complaint with the CCB police stating that he received threatening calls from prisoners, including Nelson, Savan alias Bablu and others, demanding money through PhonePe and Google Pay.
Arul had initially paid some of the prisoners, but later, he got fed up with their constant demands and approached the police. An FIR was registered against Harshit, Girish, Muniraju, Likhit and others.
The CCB police have registered a case and are investigating the matter. It is alleged that several prisoners are involved in similar extortion activities, targeting the general public. The CCB police are preparing to take the accused into custody on a body warrant.
