ITBP jawan dies of heart attack, final rites performed with full military honour in Chikkaballapur

CHIKKABALLAPUR: Gangadharappa, a soldier serving in the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), passed away after suffering a heart attack. He was serving in Gangtok, Sikkim, and died in his sleep after completing his duties.

The soldier’s body was brought to his hometown Tondebavi village in Gauribidanur taluk, Chikkaballapur district, where he was laid to rest with full military honours.

Army officials informed his family that he died of a heart attack. Gangadharappa had spoken to his family members over the phone the previous night, and the news of his demise came as a shock to them.

The fourth-generation ITBP jawan had been serving in the force for many years. The body was brought to Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport and then transported to Tondebavi village in an army vehicle where he was given a farewell with full military honours.
