Iron pipe pierces truck driver through the chest in accident, firemen rush him to hospital

The iron pipe had pierced the driver's chest and exited from the back, pinning him in the driver's cabin.

HAVERI: A truck driver miraculously survived after an iron pipe pierced his chest and exited from the back after his truck overturned near Hoolihalli village in Ranebennur taluk on Wednesday.

Shivananda Badagi (27) was driving his truck from Hubballi to Davanagere when he lost control and the truck fell to the service road near Hoolihalli village. As the truck fell, an iron pipe erected for the fence pierced his chest and Shivananda was stuck in the driver’s cabin with blood oozing.

The pipe was cut with a high-pressure equipment.

On receiving information, the Fire and Emergency Services personnel, along with the highway ambulance rushed to the spot. The firemen then cut the larger length of the pipe and the truck driver was immediately shifted to the Davanagere district hospital with a part of the pipe still sticking into his chest.

The truck driver was quickly shifted to a hospital with a piece of the pipe still stuck in his chest.

Rescuers and locals praised Shivananda Badagi for not losing courage or consciousness during the entire ordeal. The incident occurred in Ranebennur police limits.
