BENGALURU: Coming down heavily on Congress leader Sharanprakash Rudrappa Patil for calling the Rameshwaram Cafe bomb blast a “silly trick”, BJP leader Tejasvi Surya on Sunday said that it is not just insensitive but also an insult to those who suffered injuries.
Patil while speaking to the media over the Rameshwaram Cafe bomb said, “Some people create such incidents to disturb the peace in the state. Our government does not allow all these silly tricks. Our goal is the development of the state.”
“We would not be disturbed by such a silly, small incident. This kind of act does not happen every day. A major incident took place in the heavily guarded Parliament House. These are all fringe elements. It is a silly attempt,” he added.
Reacting to this, Surya said, “Dismissing the Rameshwaram Cafe blast as ‘silly’ is not just insensitive, but also an insult to those who suffered injuries. The message is clear. We cannot expect Congress to protect the country.”
However, after facing backlash from the BJP over his remark, Patil clarified his statement and said that his remarks were for the elements that are trying to destroy peace in the state, not for the Rameswaram Cafe bomb blast.
“Some forces in the state are working to destroy peace. Therefore, I have said something silly with reference to that case, but I have not mentioned the case of Rameswaram Cafe bomb blast. The government has taken the bomb blast case seriously. This is an act of treason and I have not said that the act of terrorists is stupid,” he said.
“They are trying to destabilize politics and I said that I am silly,” he added.
As many as 10 people were injured after an explosion occurred at Bengaluru’s popular Rameshwaram cafe in the Whitefield area on Friday. Meanwhile, a team of Karnataka Police reached the explosion site on Sunday morning as part of its ongoing investigation.
This comes after CM Siddaramaiah said on Saturday that the complete truth regarding the Rameshwara Cafe incident has to come out.
He instructed senior police officers to use technology effectively in investigations. CM Siddaramaiah suggested providing protection to the people and directed officials to identify densely populated areas and increase police patrolling in such areas. (ANI)
