BENGALURU: After traffic police officers, it now seems to be the turn of the law and order police inspectors in the city.

Senior-level officers are said to be upset with the style of functioning of police inspectors and are believed to have given them a dressing down, asking them to get out of their seats and hear the grievances of people.

With the officers at the police station level not interacting properly with the public and aggrieved people, they have been knocking on the doors of Deputy Commissioners of Police and also the City Police Commissioner. This has caused consternation in the higher echelons of the police department, who have pulled up the inspectors, sources said.

If the trend continues, it would be no surprise if the offices of the police commissioner and DCPs turn into police stations, the inspectors were told. They have been asked to see to it that aggrieved people and other citizens do not line up at the commissioner’s office and to deal with all issues at the police station level itself.
