BENGALURU: The case of forcing students to remove the janivara at Krupanidhi College CET centre has taken a political turn. The BJP, along with parents, submitted a complaint to the police commissioner.

Following the incident, Krupanidhi College suspended three staff members. The college management took action based on instructions from the Education Minister. The KEA Executive Director wrote to the Bengaluru DC to investigate the matter.

Following the KEA letter, the Bengaluru DC formed an inquiry team led by the Additional Deputy Commissioner to probe the case. The committee has been instructed to submit a report within two days. After the inquiry report, action is likely to be taken against the college and more key staff and all eyes are on the inquiry team’s report.

Last year, a similar incident had occurred in Bidar, this year in Bengaluru. The KEA has decided to implement rules to prevent controversies and to make the dress code rules more systematic from next year, it is making preparations to frame guidelines with more caution regarding sensitive issues and religious attire/dress code.

The KEA has decided to frame guidelines to avoid any confusion and implement dress code rules without hurting religious sentiments, including janivara and kalava.

What KEA’s plans to do

  • Make dress code rules for CET exam more systematic.
  • Include necessary provisions in the dress code rules so that religious sentiments are not hurt.
  • KEA itself will train staff before the exam.
  • Frame rules for immediate action against such centers if confusion occurs even after KEA training.
  • In the dress code information given to students, clearly mention all aspects of what is permitted and what is not.
