BENGALURU: Indira Canteens, meant to provide quality food at affordable prices to the urban poor, have not been spared from the water shortage being faced by the city. Water units kept in front of the Indira Canteens are shut due to water shortage and customers are forced to buy packaged water bottles.

Even in  the heart of the city at Majestic, the Indira Canteen is facing water shortage. Citizens are now demanding that proper water connections be to the water units to ensure regular supply.

With the water problem getting worse in the city, business at the Indira Canteens has also been affected. The staff are forced to purchase water cans to ensure water for customers. “If there is a water unit, it would have been very helpful. People are blaming the BBMP and the BWSSB for this drought-like situation. The authorities should take necessary measures to provide drinking water at Indira Canteens”, some of the customers stressed.
