Indian national arrested for facilitating Aadhaar, PAN cards for illegal Bangladeshi immigrants

BENGALURU: The Suryanagar police have arrested an Indian national who provided illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in the city with fake documents like Aadhaar, PAN and other identity cards. The arrested is Arnab Mandal and he had been involved in the business for about 10 years, police said.

The police raided a cyber centre being run by Arnab Mandal in Surya City near Anekal and found several Aadhaar cards and rental agreements of 18 houses. Arnab would created documents only for those who arrived from West Bengal and would charge them anywhere between Rs 8,000-10,000, police said.

Using the rental agreements, Arnab would create various documents and later an Aadhaar card. He is believed to have created documents for several illegal Bangladeshi immigrants living in the city. The Surya City police are now on the lookout for those who got their Aadhaar cards from Arnab Mandal.

“Mandal was running a cyber centre where he was creating fake identities and facilitating illegal Bangladeshi nationals get Indian documents. We have so far seized 18 notarised rental agreements, 55 Aadhaar cards, 40 PAN cards, two computers and two mobile phones. We are investigating how many others were involved with him and we will take steps to deport them”, said Bengaluru Rural SP C K Baba.
