BENGALURU: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) seems unconcerned about the people’s safety. Despite repeated accidents, the civic body has failed to take proper measures.

Recently, a youth was left in a critical state due to BBMP’s mistake and incomplete road work. Despite lurking dangers, the BBMP seems unconcerned.

There are large iron rods standing up on the roads, posing a danger to commuters. The international airport road, specifically at Kogilu Cross, is a nightmare. Thousands of commuters, including pedestrians, face risks daily. The incomplete road work has been going on for two years, with no warning signs or safety measures in place. Over a dozen shops line this stretch, attracting hundreds of visitors. If anyone stumbles or slips, there is a chance of losing one’s life. But still, the authorities concerned have not taken any action.

Many serious incidents have already occurred in this same place.Recently, two autorickshaws fell into a drain during heavy rain, injuring the occupants severely. Even local MLA S R Vishwanath has been approached, but to no avail.

Local resident Ratnakar said, the same situation has persisted for the last two years. “No one is completing the work and there are no safety measures taken. We have brought it to the notice of MLA. Auto drivers, who came from other areas, fell into a drain as they didn’t know about the dangers. Local residents are suffering a lot, especially during heavy rain. People suffer due to waterlogging on the road when it rains heavily. The BBMP should take some action immediately”, he said.
