HASSAN: Heavy rainfall continues in the Malnad region of Hassan district, causing a landslide on the Shiradi Ghat road near Donigal in Sakleshpur taluk.
The incident occurred while workers were excavating 100 feet on both sides of the road at a 90-degree angle for the construction of a four-lane road. Sakleshpur has been experiencing non-stop rain for the past two days, leading to soil erosion.
Despite the construction of a retaining wall, the soil from the upper reaches is coming lose, causing trees like coffee, silver oak and others to be uprooted. The rain, accompanied by strong winds, has resulted in the landslide, causing anxiety among travellers and vehicle owners.
With the weekend rush, traffic has increased on the Shiradi Ghat road, which is a crucial link between Bengaluru and Mangaluru on National Highway 75.
