In viral audio clip, tahsildar claims he paid Rs 85 lakh to secure job

HASSAN: An audio clip is doing the rounds on social media where a tahsildar claims to have paid Rs 85 lakh to secure the job. The voice in the audio clip is believed to be that of Channarayapatna tahsildar Naveen in conversation with an unidentified person, probably seeking a favour.

Also, in one video, two people, with one suspected to be the tahsildar, can be seen having a converstion while in another video, an individual is seen counting a wad of currency notes.

The audio clip is believed to have been recorded in 2024 when Naveen was posted at tahsildar at Nagarbhavi in Bengaluru as revealed by the date and location stamp on the videos. He can be heard speaking lightly of bribery and the Congress government’s guarantee schemes.

In the audio clip, the tahsildar can be heard abusing the Congress government in foul language and says they could have made more money if there was a coalition government. He also says that during the 2023 Lok Sabha election, he had given Rs 15 lakh to JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy.
