BENGALURU: The rainfall is set to intensify in Karnataka again, with the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting heavy rainfall in several parts of the state.
A low-pressure system is likely to develop in the Bay of Bengal off the coast of Andhra Pradesh, leading to heavy rainfall in several districts of Karnataka.
The IMD has issued a red alert for the coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada, as well as the Malnad districts of Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru and Hassan for Sunday and Monday. An orange alert has been issued for these districts on August 19 and 20.
The IMD has also issued an orange alert for several other districts including Bidar, Kalaburagi, Yadagiri, Bijapur, Raichur, Belagavi, Dharwad, Haveri, Gadag, Bagalkote and Koppal, from today to August 19. In Bengaluru, moderate rainfall is expected from August 17 to August 21.
