BENGALURU: Holenarsipur MLA and former minister H D Revanna has defended his elder son and MLC Suraj Revanna stating that the allegations against him were a political conspiracy against his family. “Why did the police bring him from Hassan to Bengaluru without conducting a medical test? They are doing this to threaten us”, he charged.

“Suraj Revanna was the first to lodge a complaint. What did they do about it? Why would Suraj complain if he had made a mistake? I won’t say anything now. I will speak to you when the time comes. If we did something wrong, we wouldn’t be here.  Who is targeting our family? I will leave all these to God”, he said.

MLC Suraj had gone to the CEN police station in Hassan at 6 pm on Saturday to lodge a counter complaint against the victim who had made sexual assault allegations against Suraj. The police detained him at the station itself and questioned him till 11.30 pm. Later, the police took him to an inaccessible place Suraj and continued the investigation till 1:30 am, Revanna claimed.

Sakaleshpur Deputy SP Pramod Kumar, who is the investigating officer in the case, subjected Suraj Revanna to intense interrogation. He was taken into custody on Saturday morning. The police said that they would produce him before a judge after the completion of the medical examination.
