CHENNAI: After Superstar Rajinikanth denied commenting on political questions, Tamil Nadu Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on Friday said that he got scared after some purported YouTube thumbnails stated that superstar Rajinikanth is frustrated with announcement of Udhayanidhi Stalin becoming Deputy CM of the state.

However, Minister Stalin also emphasized that the right to make a decision on the Deputy CM remains with Chief Minister MK Stalin.

Udhayanidhi Stalin said, “This morning (Friday), after completing one event, I opened my phone and watched YouTube. I got scared after opening YouTube and seeing a thumbnail in a video. That thumbnail says — ‘Does Udhayanidhi want to become Deputy CM? Superstar Rajinikanth is frustrated’. I got scared. Still, there is no announcement made regarding elevation, full rights are with the Chief Minister only… He (Rajinikanth) was going for a movie shoot and for that, he came to the airport where he was confronted by the media, but he said – ‘Don’t ask a political question’. Even after that, the title has been kept like that. I don’t know what thumbnail media give for this speech. It would be like ‘Udhayanidhi befitting reply to Super Star’.”

On September 19, Tamil Nadu minister Tha Mo Anbarasan said that Udhayanidhi Stalin, son of Chief Minister M K Stalin, is likely to be announced as the Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu within the next 7 to 10 days. “Udhayanidhi Stalin is likely to be announced as Deputy Chief Minister within 7-10 days or maybe even tomorrow,” Anbarasan told reporters.

He further said that the party is planning the DMK Diamond Jubilee public meeting, which is scheduled for September 28. “We are planning the DMK Diamond Jubilee public meet, which is scheduled on September 28, at Kanchipuram Pachayappa’s College for Men Ground. The meeting will be led by CM. Alliance party members will attend, participate and address it. The public meeting will be coordinated by Kanchipuram South District and North District”, Anbarasan said.

On Wednesday, Tamil Nadu Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin dismissed the speculation regarding his elevation as Deputy Chief Minister. Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Udhayanidhi said that such decisions will be taken by the Chief Minister and asked the media to not do it on his behalf.

On the Deputy CM post, Udhayanidhi asked, “Who said like that? CM will take the decision, and you don’t take a decision on it. All ministers are and will be with CM. You have to ask the CM. It is totally CM’s right to decide about it”. (ANI)
