BIDAR: A massive python, measuring about 12 feet, swallowed a live goat at Ghat Hipparaga village in Basavakalyan taluk. Forest Department officials and a herpetologist rescued both the goat and the python.
The python had swallowed a goat belonging to one Rajkumar Rodde, who was grazing his goats, and had made its way under a rock.

The python had swallowed a goat belonging to a shepherd when he was grazing them.

“An anxious Rajkumar rushed back to the villagers. Next day, the villagers went to the spot with him and found the python under a stone. Immediately, the Forest Department was informed”, said Shanmugha Swamy, a villager.

The snake was pulled out from under a rock.

The Forest Department officials arrived there along with herpetologist Ashok Shetty. They pulled out the snake from under the rock and freed the goat. The officials, along with the villagers, carried the massive python on their shoulders and finally freed it inside a forest.

The python was carried away and set free in the forest.

Basavakalyan zone Forest Officer Syed Murtaza Qadri said, “We caught the python safely and released it into the forest. In the last three months, this is the second instance where a python has been spotted. I appeal to people to inform us if they spot snakes so that we can attempt to rescue them safely”.
