Hubballi-Dharwad police chief visits Bilal mosque, inquires about ‘outsiders’

DHARWAD: After Dharwad MLA Arvind Bellad wrote to Hubballi-Dharwad Police Commissioner N Shashikumar expressing apprehension about unidentified people at Jannat Nagar in Dharwad, the police chief visited the Bilal mosque on Monday evening.

The MLA had claimed that the police had not responded to his letter. During his visit, the police commissioner also went around Jannat Nagar and inquired about the outsiders living in the area. The outsiders are from Athwa in Surat, Gujarat, the police commisisoner said.

“They had come to learn some religious practices. We have collected all information from them and instructed the mosque authorities to hencefort provide us information beforehand if anybody is coming from outside”, he said.

The mufti of the mosque said, “We have given all the information the police had sought, including about those who had come from Surat. We are not aware of any other unidentified people in the locality. In future, we will provide the police with all information”.
